How to Get a Snake Out of a Hole

How to Get a Snake Out of a HoleShifting in Florida, a place known as a heaven for snakes is one of the most cumbersome tasks that we had faced while moving from New Jersey.

Further, the Presence of numerous snake holes in our new house added a plethora of problems for us. I don’t even recall the total number of snake holes that I had seen in my house.

The snakes were wandering freely from one hole to another one and I was running from pillar to post to get rid of this headache i.e abundance of holes in our new house.

Thereafter, I started collecting information on how to get a snake out of a hole and decided to meet with different stakeholders in this sector.

During my course of interrogation, I met with different heads of snake breeders’ farms as well as the members of the snake hunter associations.

Finally I came across Mr. Jolley who has very vast experience in snake hunting. He has been hunting since he was three years old. He told me to take the following measures to get a snake out of the hole.

How to Get a Snake Out of a Hole

Although it is immensely difficult to get a snake out of a hole yet it is doable. I have listed down some important options after having multiple sittings with Mr. Jolley.

These options are given below;

Option 1: Lowering the Temperature

The most widely used option to get rid of snakes from holes is to lower the temperature of a place. Normally, the snakes need a source of heat to warm themselves. They don’t have the ability to maintain their body temperature at their own.

Therefore, lowering the temperature will be helpful to make the snake agonizing and uncomfortable that consequently compelling the snake to leave the hole.

Option 2: Placing a Source of Heat

Placing a source of heat in a place is also considered as a fruitful option to remove the snake from a hole. As mentioned earlier, the snake couldn’t regulate themselves in normal temperature and ultimately, they will leave the place for better off.

Some famous source of heat are as below;

  1. Heating pad
  2. Heat lamps
  3. Electric blanket
  4. Regular desk lamp

Option 3: Placing a Source of Food

Placing a source of food in a place is a tremendous option to remove a snake from hole.  Snakes like every being love to eat their favorite food.

Therefore, they leave their comfort zone i.e  their holes to get their food even if they are not hungry :).

For your easiness, I have jotted down a list of snake’s favorite foods;

  1. Fish
  2. Frogs
  3. Grasshoppers
  4. Mice
  5. Moles
  6. Rats
  7. Small farm animals
  8. Slugs
  9. Snails

Option 4: Hunting at the Right Time

Hunting at the right time gives the desired result. For this purpose, you have in depth knowledge of the snakes that you are hunting for. There are mostly two types of snakes as described below:

  • Nocturnal Snakes

Nocturnal snakes generally move during night; so, night is the best time to hunt for nocturnal snakes.

  • Diurnal Snakes

These types of snakes come out from hole in day; so, the period between sunrise and sunset is the best one to hunt the diurnal snakes

Option 5: Removing Scared Items

Removing sacred items near the snake’ hole gives an indescribable result. Snakes avoid things that they are afraid of; so, providing a secure environment gives them a bright chance to move freely.

For general information, I have listed down some sacred items for snakes;

  1. Loud noises
  2. Dogs
  3. Cats
  4. Children
  5.  Foxes
  6. Raccoons
  7. Turkeys
  8. Pigs
  9. Guinea hens

Option 6: Placing a Snake Trap

Placing a snake trap near the snake hole also gives the desired result. Residents of our era use this method to capture the snake. It is one of the most fruitful methods to get a snake out of a hole but a little bit expensive.

In this method a trap is placed with a heating mat underneath that seems to be a home to the snake. It presents a fallacious image of a snake’s home and a snake becomes a coward. However, you should keep in mind the following points while buying a snake trap;

  1. It should be made with robust materials.
  2. It should be weather-proof.
  3. It should be made by professional snake removers.
  4. It should be free-standing.
  5. It should be able to be used indoors or outside.
  6. It should be kid and pet-friendly.
  7. It should be able to be used day or night.

Option 7: Call a Professional Hunter

Calling a professional hunter to get a snake out of a hole is the most expensive and the safest one among the above mentioned options.

Mr. Jolley suggested this option deliberately. He said that you might call either a professional private hunter or an official from U.S. Fish and Wildlife to capture a snake. However, Both are equally recommended.

Option 8: Using a Repellant

Using a repellant is also an effective way to get a snake out of a hole. Repellents produce pungent smells that compel the snake to abscond from his place. They are three forms available in the market as below;

  1. Granular
  2. liquid
  3. spray

However, there are two types of repellents in the market: natural and artificial. The available natural repellents as below

  1. Garlic
  2. Lemongrass
  3. Garigold

And bellow is the list of some artificial repellents that tender same result as mentioned above;

  1. Eugenic
  2. Cinnamon oil
  3. Clove oil

Conclusion

I hope, now, you have all the required knowledge on how to get a snake out of a hole. Hopefully, you will get rid of the same after exhausting all mentioned above options.

These options are special gifts from Mr. Jolley who shared his real asset of life. I personally use snake traps for this purpose and the result is commendable, but you should take all precautionary measures to do the same.

Have a snake protective day!
